CELEBRITIES AND BOTOX
Olympic gold medalists Nadia Comaneci and Mark Spitz are the latest celebrity endorsers of wrinkle-fighting Botox injections.
A spokeswoman for Botox manufacturer Allergan said gymnast Comaneci, age 46, and swimmer Spitz, age 58, are “teaming up with Allergan and Botox Cosmetic on a new campaign aimed at educating consumers about the safe and effective use of Botox,” starting officially on July 15 in New York.
As the Beijing Olympics draws near, the pair will appear at various events around the country to tell about Botox and to stress “the importance of seeking consultation from a trained and qualified physician specialized in medical aesthetic treatments,” said Leslie A. Bryant, manager of corporate communications for Irvine-based Allergan.
The company’s other celebrity endorsers include actress Virginia Madsen, 46, a Botox booster; and tennis stars Lindsay Davenport, 31, of Laguna Beach, and Tracy Austin, 45, who praise the injectable dermal filler Juvederm.
