CLINTON AND COSMETIC MEDICINE
As Hillary Clinton, 60, basks in the spotlight at this week’s Democratic National Convention, doctors say she appears to have used some of the tools of cosmetic medicine to fight against the signs of aging.
But Clinton would still benefit from more skin-rejuvenation treatments to further the process, they say.
Minimally invasive injections and laser treatments are what the doctors see some evidence of, not nip-and-tuck-style plastic surgery. One plastic surgeon said Clinton won’t look her best until she has a mini-facelift.
If Clinton has already had Botox injections, though, the photo above is evidence that only a modest amount, at most, was used in her forehead. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to make that expression.
You might think otherwise if you only looked at her smooth forehead in the photo below.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Michael A. Persky of Encino suggests that the skin on Clinton’s face looks as though it was firmed-up with a Fraxel re:store laser (pictured).
Made by Reliant Technologies of Mountain View, Calif., the re:store device is a modern lower-impact version of the old erbium laser, which could rejuvenate the skin but required about a week of recovery time. Persky says:
Hillary Clinton may have had Fraxel re:store treatments, a series of no-downtime laser treatments that help with skin tone, texture, and color, with minimal tightening of the skin. She also may have had Botox and dermal fillers (Restylane, Juviderm, Preville Silk). Ms. Clinton does not appear to have had any major plastic surgery.
That’s the type of treatment that Newport Beach dermatologist Dr. Vince Afsahi recommends for Clinton:
Many prominent women we treat in our office prefer a subtle-yet-effective transformation when they embark on a skin rejuvenation program. Because they are in front of the camera on a daily basis, non-surgical modalities for treating the signs of aging are recommended.
Fillers such as Juvederm for the laugh lines, lip lines, and cheek augmentation can be used. Botox is wonderful for the crow’s feet, frown lines, and glabella [between the eyebrows].
A favorite of many of patients is laser and light based treatments such as photofacials to freshen up the skin, reduce pore size and sun spots before a big event. Most of these procedures can be done with little downtime and the patient returns to work quickly.
Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Don Mehrabi proposes a series of anti-wrinkle Botox injections plus skin-rejuvenating laser treatments:
Hilary Clinton would easily most benefit from Botox injections to the crow’s feet, forehead, and the area between the eyebrows. Her most significant improvement would be to do a fractional resurfacing procedure to even out her skin texture and get rid of the lines under her eyes.
Fillers in her laugh lines and the areas around and below her mouth would be great, but the top two suggestions would be Botox and laser resurfacing.
Near the convention site in Denver, Dr. Tahl Humes says that Clinton appears to have benefited from wrinkle-fighters such as Botox. “It appears that she has restored a youthful look with a combination of injectables,” said Humes, a specialist in internal medicine who owns Vitahl Medical Rejuvenation Spa in Denver and conducts training sessions on cosmetic injections and Cutera cosmetic laser systems.
The Daily News of New York quoted Humes earlier this month and said, “A source tells us Clinton visited a New York plastic surgeon early this month and received injections of a ‘dermafiller’ in her face.”
Persky suggested that Clinton should move on to treatments with a Fraxel re:pair laser, a newer skin-rejuvenation device that has attracted wide praise from dermatologists. For Clinton, that “would result in a healthy and rested natural appearance,” he said.
Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Payman Simoni recommended a mix of injections and surgery to help Clinton achieve a “refreshed” look. He said:
Hillary Clinton’s face shows appropriate aging changes for her age. She has noticeable frown lines and crow’s feet. These wrinkles are best treated with Botox. Despite what many believe there is no surgical alternative.
She has under-the-eye fat bulges. There are both surgical and non-surgical solutions for the bags under her eyes.
She also has deep wrinkles around and on the corner of her mouth. These deep wrinkles respond poorly to dermal fillers in the absence of surgical lift. So if she has had any injection treatment for these lines, it would be unnoticeable. It is very possible that she might have turned to non-surgical approach before putting herself on spotlight.
However non-surgical approaches would not be able to fool those advanced cameras and perfect lightings. In order for Hillary to look refreshed she would need a mini face and neck lift.

Why should she have to have any kind of treatment at all? Why can’t we accept that people change as they age and accept it? I am 60 also. I do everything I can to look good, but that does not include any chemical or surgical methods. If others don’t like that I look my age, too bad for them. It took me 60 years to get where I am, and I don’t care if they want me to look younger.

Full-face transplants are now available. She could exchange faces with Chelsea and continue her quest for the White House. (She be scary)

No amount of laser treatment, or any other treatment for that matter, can save that face. Impossible !!! There are some things that just cannot be saved, or, fixed in this case!

Gee. Let’s see McCain is — what? — 72? … and Hillary’s 60?
Hillary’s life has consisted of exactly how many major, stress-induced events resulting in signs of aging? Save perhaps repeated bouts of panic and humiliation as she frantically mounted damage-control operations to spin, lie and coverup the transgressions of serial philandering husband-in-heat, I’d say about ZIP, ZILCH, NADA!
I’m sure she’d look simply ravishing if she’d only had to endure being an honored guest in the Hanoi Hilton for 5 1/2 years!
Geez, what a cravenly shallow twit!
August 27th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Hillary has earned every line, crease, furrough, sag, bulge, and droop her face can hold. She’s a screeching old battle ax.
Bill looks pretty good though… I heard he’s got a few new assistants

Where are the articles about all the “Hair Club for Men” guys in the Senate and House? How about Joe Biden’s hair implant hairline and bald rear view and fake tan? How about Jim Webb’s toupee? How about the fake grey Obama hair that appeared three weeks ago? What about how fat Jim Doyle got? Look at how bad Arnold’s jowls are sagging. Look at David Gergen’s pathetic comb over. Look at the belly on Ted Kennedy. Who was that fatster from Montana? Your newspaper is a disgrace.

Hillary looks like a beautiful, natural woman of a certain age, unlike Pelosi. That would have been a more interesting story. Pelosi’s face is as authentic as is her Catholic faith.
August 27th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Jealousy. For those who cry that Hilldog looks good for her age while claiming Ms. McCain is a botoxed Barbie, so much sour grapes.
August 27th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Who wouldn’t date her, she is very attractive for her age. HIllary if you read this, holla!
August 27th, 2008 at 11:01 am
Could we please see the face of our grumpy grandpa McCain
August 27th, 2008 at 11:04 am
This is offensive. Why can’t women of a ‘certain age’ be allow to look ‘of a certain age’?
August 27th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Hillary looks awesome as-is. She is very beautiful ! Expecting a 60 year old woman to have a line-free face is a problem of our culture, not a problem of the woman.
We have a long way to go before there is true gender equity.

Personally, I would want to see the details of Chelsea’s cosmetic surgery work. It is pathetic that someone in her 20s would have had more than her mother.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:30 am
Many of you claim or comment in a “non” bias way but both sides make comments like botox barbie or Hilary the witch etc…… the reality is that botox or no botox surgery or not none of these factors dictate a persons job performance or ability as president or senator or a factory worker for that matter!! The power of dress, and looks is amazing in this country and the world. While I have definite opinions I will not voice them here as they are MY opinions however the concern of how a person looks or “what they had done” or “who they slept with” etc…… famous or not will eventually be the demise of this country and society as a whole if we keep on this path…………… sad sad sad………….

August 27th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
How about some assistance with those cow-catcher teeth??
August 27th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
There isn’t a laser big enough to fix that ugly mug. Maybe a face transplant might help. Please don’t fix her cankles. That’s her most attractive feature.

John McCain was severely burned on his face, neck and upper torso when his aircraft carrier (USS John F Kennedy) was englulfed by fire during the vietnam war. (75 sailors died in the accident). Do you really want to compare McCain’s face and disfigurement to Hillary Clinton’s age lines?

You Dems still cant take the heat - grow up - hillary is old and for a woman thats not good - estrogen and all that. Who would know better than a woman

August 27th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Hillary looks better darn good for what she has put up with (cheating husband, infertility problems, the Barack Obama camp who stole the nomination from her). I simply don’t agree with her politics. Less government is the best government. Government health insurance will be a disaster and bring this country to an economic standstill.
August 27th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
She, Hillary looks great, so does Joan rivers and Joan has a better sense of humor too.
August 27th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Wish I could afford even modest cosmetic procedures. It would certainly help me, at 50, to regain employment in a 30-something workplace. Maybe an Obama health plan will cover these procedures as a part of the total feel-good package he’s proposing.

Billery even with laser work still looks like a chipmunk!
August 27th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
As much as I don’t like Hillary, I have to say that it is an unfair picture, as the first one shows her with her eyebrows raised, which will give you wrinkles on your forehead. I don’t see a lot of difference, and as much as I’d LOVE to see her move to a planet far, far away, she doesn’t look all that bad. Its not her skin that worries me………………
August 27th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
She needs some serious dental work!
August 27th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I’m a republican and would never vote for the old gal, but as far as Hillary is concerned, she is one of the hottest female politicos ever to grace the stage. Leave her alone. She’s a beauty.
August 27th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Hillary?
I thought it was Jimmy Carter in drag!
August 28th, 2008 at 5:04 am
She has had her eye lids lifted…I KNOW because I just had it done..and if you doubt..look at her eyes when she was “not first lady” and compare.
Whatever she had done to face ..it was temporary fix because she had the same old bags under her eyes again last night.
I am all for cosmetic help…with or without scapel…so her doing it is no big deal for me.
Now she needs to take Bill in..he certainly needs a new face …two don’t seem to be enough for him.

I love Hillary Clinton….She looks Fantastic
If She Had Plastic Surgery of any kind and or botox or not…I don’t Care
Barack Obama Made a huge Mistake for Picking Joe Biden …..Hillary was your sure fire WINNING TICKET.
I don’t Like McCain Only because he is a Republican..But I have to admit he has Guts…for picking Sarah Palin…..Obama was Chicken for not Picking a woman Like Hillary.
I will still vote for Obama , He better Live up to CHANGE ….for the better that is ..not worse

It could be the photography (God forbid that I be photographed that closely) but she has the wrinkles of a 70 year old there, it seems. Aging is inevitable. Do it gracefully. You have no choice

Hillary Clinton’s problems are not her face…it’s the lies that come out of her mouth.
“Liberalism is just communism sold by the drink.”
October 8th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
While I don’t like Hillary’s politics, or the way she treats people, I think she looks quite well.
We all age in our own way, and that’s okay. That is how nature intended it to be.
As a conservative, I’d feel much better if Hillary was running in the Demo slot, rather than the fellow who is now. He scares me.
At least Hillary would have kept the terrorists in line. With Obama, he’ll give away the store and it’s not his to give.

Hillary Clinton is a very attractive woman. And smart…and strong….and hard working….and poised…..
