SECOND THOUGHTS
Sarah Jessica Parker has finally fessed up that she had her trademark mole removed – and now she wishes she hadn’t done so, she says.
People noticed immediately that the mole had vanished last summer. But at the time Parker’s publicist denied that she’d had any work done.
Now, however, the “Sex and the City” actress tells MTV News:
If I knew it was famous I never would have had it removed. My health is terrific. I never thought anybody had any emotional attachment to that mole. I certainly didn’t.
It was just one of those things where I had a couple weeks and I thought, “I can finally get that mole removed,” like many people do. It was an incredibly slow news week. …
One woman said to me, “That’s your signature!” I said, “That’s my signature?! All these years of being worried about the work, I could have just counted on my mole?!”
Parker remains an opponent of Botox and plastic surgery, but some critics think the mole removal undercuts her standing as an advocate of growing old gracefully. As commentator Sarah Sands wrote last summer:
“The removal of the mole is portrayed as both frivolous and a betrayal of other women. SJP had promised to grow old gracefully, and here she is yielding to the surgeon’s scalpel.”
“Cosmetic surgery,” Sands wrote, “is regarded as a branch of voodoo by the popular papers. Any woman in the public eye attempting Botox will find herself pictured next to the Bride of Wildenstein.”

There’s always a line somewhere, isn’t there? She doesn’t like botox or that other stuff, but she doesn’t mind getting her mole removed? It’s either all or nothing, I think. This will definitely get her to do other stuff in the future, when she’s not so Sexy in the City.
What does a mole have to do with aging? It’s cosmetic, but it’s hardly a “surgery” and not the same as a facelift or even botox.
I never even noticed her mole.
agreed, Angelique. Moles have nothing to do with aging. I know people who had moles that bugged them removed while they were in their teens and 20s.
Well, there is a tiny one still in it’s place, and it looks like a tiny hair is coming out of it.
Get over it Jessica, you can’t unscramble eggs.
OMG. She looks 10 times better now.
Looks like she had a little work done under and around her eyes as well. I think it makes her look younger and less haggard. As for the mole, nice to see it gone, it was a distraction to her beauty.
When I saw Sex in the City, the movie, there was a part in it which her skin was all white w/ makeup and her mole was about 10′ x 10′ and was hideous and distracting. It was disgusting and that maybe why she removed it. Thank goodesss!
With all due respect to those who chat about a mole. The mountain is her NOSE!
THAT, should be worked on. It looks as if Charlton Heston was her father!
geeze, i went through all 41 photos and had no idea what you were talking about, her “changing appearance”… the only changes i could see were due to her growing up and maturing, like everyone else.
this is all about her having a mole removed? why is this even an issue? it’s her face, if it makes her feel better to have a mole removed, that’s nobody’s business but hers. i have a mole that i would gladly have had removed years ago if i could afford to have it done — i’m sure lots of other people have similar things that bother them that they have to live with for one reason or another.
if she can afford to do it and she wants to have it done, leave her alone! there have to be better things in this world to worry about…
HAHAHAHA betrayal? frivolous? OMG people get real! I tell you what, the next time you pick up the phone to make that dental cleaning appointment or salon appointment remember that it’s just frivolous and a betrayal to all women who don’t bother with such things. Grow up! Is it really necessary to have your teeth cleaned every 6 months? I KNOW it is a waste of money and time to hit that beauty parlor every week. If you can’t brush and floss your teeth properly or make your hair look decent with a a little time and a comb then you have bigger issues that need to be dealt with. Sarah had a mole removed, a mole! And now she’s betrayed every woman in the world because OMG she had “plastic surgery”. Talk about making a mountain out of a “mole” hill. HAHAHAHAHA idiots!
