SHE’S FIRED
carrie-prejean-0409-313pxwCarrie Prejean’s reign as Miss California USA survived a series of sensational revelations, but not a contract dispute.

She remained the state’s beauty queen despite turmoil over her new breast implants, which the pageant paid for; her topless photos from before she was a beauty queen; and her outspoken opposition to gay marriage.

But she lost the crown today after pageant organizers said she wasn’t living up to her contract.

“This was a decision based solely on contract violations including Ms. Prejean’s unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization,” said state pageant Executive Director Keith Lewis.

Tami Farrell, formerly Miss Malibu and the first runner-up in the state competition, will assume the title of Miss California USA.

Pageant officials had said earlier that Prejean violated her contract by not telling them about the topless photos. They also said Prejean had missed important pageant events.

But pageant owner Donald Trump decided at the time that the photos weren’t worth firing Prejean. In turn, she said she’d communicate better with pageant officials.

“After our press conference in New York we had hoped we would be able to forge a better working relationship,” Lewis said today. “However, since that time it has become abundantly clear that Carrie is unwilling to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together.”

In response to Trump’s earlier decision to keep Prejean on, Lewis’ co-executive director, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, resigned in protest, the Associated Press reported.

time to stop all these beauty pageants, anyway.

Something is very wrong with our country. She lost her crown because she prefers guys?

  • Yikes says:

what a witchhunt….all because she opposes gay marriage? Give me a break, they were on a mission to take her out because her political views.

  • Tex Watson says:

I respect her views and her cajones to uphold them, but I look at the whole pageant thing the same way I look at WWE Wrestling or Televangists.

  • bobbyc says:

I’ll bet she’s going to run as the GOP candidate with Sarah Palin in 2012.

  • Truth says:

We know this all about her opposition to homosexual marriage. In the future, they should have all contestants fill out a questionnaire, indicating their support of homosexuals, Barack Obama, expanding the welfare state, and increased taxes. That way, they will get a candidate that doesn’t commit “breach of contract.”

  • Troy says:

I’m gay and found her annoying, and I’ve never been able to stand that horrible Trump man.

But I have to say that I tipped my hat for a brief moment when Trump mentioned that her opposition to Gay Marriage was exactly the same as that of President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, both of whom have gone on record repeatedly opposing Gay Marriage and claming that “as a Christian” marriage is between a man and a woman only.

The hypocrisy that Obama and top Dems cling to when it comes to Gay Marriage is astounding, and sickening. Good for the former Miss California for reminding us that her position is no different than Obama.

    • GregandJeff says:

Actually it is. What Obama says and what he used to say before the election are very different things. There’s a reason why he is the first President in history to recognize gays and what June represents to them. It only took 40 years.

      • Troy says:

In a 2008 interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Barack Obama said this:

“I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.” -Barack Obama

From the 2009 official White House website:

“President Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal rights and privileges equal to those of married couples.”

Separate But Equal civil unions and references to his Christian beliefs in opposing Gay Marriage. I’m sorry, but I’m not impressed with that. I refuse to make excuses for Obama, or pretend that’s good enough for us.

  • If she wasn’t such a horrible liar she’d have a great future in politics… I wonder how long ’till the wind accidentally blows off her top in pics again?

  • Nate says:

people are being too critical and imagining things. just simply look at what happened.

ms prejean wanted to quit so she simply stop showing up and got fired.

ms america pagent set her up with that question possibly to retaliate against the recent passage of prop. 8. in calif.

ms. prejean is just 23 yrs old, she gave her answer and said her family values are same as her’s. she doesn’t take responsibility for her answer.

moral values or morality are often called the rule of virtue. there are a few set of important virtues that are pillars for morality. such as a family makeup and atomicity of family. we must think of all of the ramification both the positive and negative aspect of having to change the basic makeup of family.

  • OCDad.com says:

I guess the pagent organizers finally gave into pressure from the gay community. Sad that they wouldn’t protect their own pagent winner from outside forces when the pressure was on. Prejean is a victim of being honest and staying true to herself - principles that seem to be sapped from this country these days. We all keep saying we want public figures to stop the cheese and speak from the hip - this has put any chance of that happening back 20 yrs. Everyone gets hurt by this.

    • GregandJeff says:

“I guess the pagent organizers finally gave into pressure from the gay community”

Hmmm..you don’t think maybe she got fired for not showing up at her JOB???

Or was she supposed to get a pass and show up whenever she felt like it just because she has conservative views? If she stopped showing up for work at YOUR business would you still keep her on?

  • Wait for it, wait for it... says:

Come on, this was so worked out. Donald wanted her out so offered to support her on the gay-marriage issue, but fire her over lack of contract-related attendance. Everybody looks good and is happy. How much do you think she got form Donald to agree to this scenario. She will be very complimentary of Trump and the paegent, but will blame it all on people who “violate her rights to free speech”.

  • Laura says:

This is ridiculous. Her contract and ability to appear at events would have never been an issue had she not given an actual answer to Perez’s extremly controversial questions. Congrats to her for stating her mind, and shame on the Miss USA organization for holding it against her.

  • hank says:

She shoud have been replace just for that STUPID comment she made aboutt he Gay Marriage and i’m not even gay but thought that she should have been fired for that i am glad that she is gone she gave California a BAD name… Servers her right it’s called Karma man… and it bit her in the butt…….

    • Yikes says:

Why? Just tell me why that answer was so stupid? It’s the same one our president gave. Please explain.

  • averagejoe1954 says:

I wonder if Perez Hilton regrets asking the question. Now she has become a spokeperson for traditional marriage advocates. In a way Perez is resposible for her popularity.

  • caseclosed says:

We all knew this would happen when she opposed gay marriage the pageant is run and judged by gays.

    • GregandJeff says:

      Donald Trump is GAY?!!!!!

Wow. I had no idea that someone with hair that bad could be!

  • deshard says:

Troy, you’re like the Jews in Nazi Germany that thought the Germans were nice people up until Kristalnacht.

Obama at this point, supports Civil Unions as does Secty. Clinton. Miss Hypocrite of the Century Prejean (I’m a Christian model, and I witness for Christ by taking semi-nude photos with my nipples showing) said she wasn’t sure of her position on civil unions.

Obama has also stated that he believes that same-sex marriage will be the law of the land by the time his daughters are adutls and that it’s an issue he struggles with. Can you say the same for the lying bimbette from the soon to lose its accredidation San Diego Christian College?

Hyporcrisy? No, Troy. Hypocrisy is saying that you live your life in a “biblically correct” manner but you have no problem posing for racy photos, nor do you have a problem signing a legally binding contract and then disregard and break its principle clauses nor do you have a problem telling bold-faced lies about all of it.

That Troy, is hypocrisy. Perhaps you’ve lived in the OC too long.

    • Troy says:

“I do believe that tradition and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.” ~Barack Obama

      Riddle me that deshard.

      • OC CPA dude says:

“Well I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage.” ~Carrie Prejean

Hmm, seems like Carrie thinks people should enter into a same-sex marriage if they want to.

Also, Obama has consistently stated his *beliefs* on marriage, but has never indicated that his beliefs should be imposed on others. Please show me where Obama has said that gays should not be allowed to be married. Why was Obama opposed to Prop 8? Riddle me that Troy.

        • Troy says:

From the official White House website:

“President Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal rights and privileges equal to those of married couples.”

I find it distasteful and surprising that the first black President is comfortable with keeping a Separate But Equal setup and has thus far refused to support Gay Marriage.

A “civil union” is not a marriage. I’m still waiting for President Obama to enter the 21st century on this issue. But at least the former Miss California agrees with him on Gay Marriage.

  • deshard says:

caseclosed: I would think that conservatives, in their moral superior way, would think that upholding the law is of the utmost importance when describing “traditional American values”.

Miss Prejean no-showed on THIRTY sanctioned Miss CA USA appearances and she was stupid enough to send vitriolic, confrontational and unprovoked emails to her bosses that are out there for all to see. Read and you’ll get it. She’s a bee-yotch of the highest order.

But, nope, even PROOF doesn’t satisfy the likes of your conservative mentality. Deny it even when the evidence is place directly under your nose.

    How pathetic.

  • observatory1969 says:

Posing provocatively with all that make up, having breast implants, chasing a beauty crown and then labeling yourself as a Christian just seems so contradictory. No, I am not saying Christians must be plain looking or ugly, but to go to such an extreme in pursuit of beauty seems odd and in the face of being humble and following the teachings of One who shed worldly and earthly possessions. I’m hoping she is a warm and caring human being, surrounded by folks who truly love her. Take care.

  • fstedie says:

I give her a year at most before she shows up on Playboy…

  • OCDad.com says:

Deshard - I’m assuming that you work somewhere so you probably know that if you want to fire someone there is a way to do it in every situation - one just has to set up the traps and watch the person fall. It doesn’t take a scientist to read between the lines here and see what’s going on. One of the pagent VP’s quit their job over this - she obviously despises Prejean. The other VP is not going to stand by and let his coworker go “down” without making Prejean pay. Its all part of their little plan to oust her. Now, I’m sure they will hire the other VP who quit back onboard and they can get back to business as usual without someone on their team who disagrees with a moral issue. Mission accomplished. My question is how far back did they plan this and was Trump in on it all along…..things that make you go hmmmm…..

  • OCDad.com says:

Observatory1069 - your right! Christians should wear sack cloth and ash so people know they are humble cause being humble is only an outward appreance thing - it has nothing to do with a person’s heart and mind on the inside. Good call.

  • Shenanigans says:

Either way, she’s still a hammer!

  • IncognitoMosquito says:

How does Miss Runner-up feel about gay marrage?

  • fishy says:

She doesnt believe Gays should be married what a coincidence so does the state of California when they voted. Does this mean they majority is wrong and we all should get fired from our job?

    • GregandJeff says:

Yes. The majority is wrong. Just as they were once wrong about keeping slaves and preventing women from voting.

And no, you should not be fired from your job. Unless you no show over and over and over again, like Prejean. Then yes, you should be.

  • Ocdad.com says:

I saw miss runner up on a talk show say she is ok with gay marriage. Naturally, the Miss USA team would only want a ‘team player’ on the gay marriage moral issue to be replacing Prejean. I’m sure if the runner up had also been against gay marriage prejean would still be holding her crown. What has this country amounted to these days? What are we telling our kids with this… That it’s better to be dishonest when asked a question on a moral issue if it helps you win? Whether or not someone believes in gay marriage or not this situation speaks volumes to our children about doing ‘whatever’ to win.

    • GregandJeff says:

We’re telling them to fricking SHOW UP at the job you were hired to do.

      I know. Scandalous isn’t it?

  • Ed says:

Next stop Maxim…then Porn!!! Weeee!!! :-P

  • I guess once you are a troubled person it will follow you no matter how many breaks you get.

  • ocdad.com says:

GregandJeff - I’m assuming from your profile name that you are probably gay so I’m sure that anyone who says anything against your alternative lifestyle is the devil. However, we need to look at the facts of this situation. Are you a fly on the wall at Miss California USA so you KNOW what they were asking Prejean to do? If an employer wants to fire someone it is very easy. Just give them twice the amount of work they normally do with shorter deadlines. When they don’t hit those deadlines you fire them. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to read between the lines here. Keith and Shana don’t like Prejean and wanted her out of their organization. They set up the unrealistic expectations and schedule for Prejean and then fired her when she couldn’t accomplish all of it.

Also, I wish the gay people on this site would stop comparing their “plight” to that of black people. I have friends who were gay in college and then are now straight. I do not have any friends who were black in college but now are white. Sexual preference can be a choice. Race is not.

  • GregandJeff says:

“Sexual preference can be a choice. Race is not.”

You keep living in your fantasyland and deny reality then. Your friends are either bisexual, or have been brainwashed to go against their nature and will someday fall off the wagon. You can’t chose what makes you pop…well, you know.

You’re defending Prejean simply because she is anti-gay. For someone so burdened with too many appearances, she certainly found lots of time to do appearances elsewhere contrary to her contract. It would be like her showing up at Burger King and ignoring her shifts at Wendy’s. I really got to wonder what this women would have to do before you realize that SHE is the problem. Again, maybe it would take her working for you and not showing up. I don’t know. I think she has more than enough strikes against her which have nothing to do with her answer to the pageant question.

And no. I do not think you are the devil. Just misguided like the people who once went against left handed people. This too shall pass.

  • George says:

Marriage is a privilege not a right. Marriage was never a right to begin with. Only the self righteous indoctrinated athiest liberals think that a marriage should be a right. California voted fairly and did it by sending a message that gay marriage is a non contributory perverse lifestyle that forces moral decay on society. Oh but gay supporters think its ok to bash and express hate and anger and call people a bigot or other unacceptable names. Gay marriage is only legal in the current 5 states because of supreme court cases. If nationwide election were to take place. Gay marriage would fail miserably in the low percent numbers. Miss California spoke her mind by exercising her 1st amendment. Again the sick minded leftist liberals want to protest and bash her thinking its OK to publicly bash her and make her out to look like a racist ( even though gay is not a race ). Leave her alone and get on with your lives. Typical liberals and their drama.

  • Elle says:

Why does everything think there is some conspiracy here? The girl didn’t do her job, so they fired her! What a god damn shock!

Homophobia disgusts me and I did not agree with what Prejean said but I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and at least she had the courage to speak hers. I don’t think she was being hateful, or trying to inspire hate in anyone. She was asked a question, and so she answered it honestly.

If anyone is to blame for inspiring hatred it’s the pagent organizers who planned to ask her this question, knowing what her answer would be and obviously wishing for it to be televised. If they didn’t want to hear Prejean’s opinion, they shouldn’t have asked her the question! Plan and simple.

And, about Obama, I understand his view. He is just saying that he does not feel a CHRISTIAN marriage should have to be granted to homosexual couples, because it is ” against” the Christian belief system. I understand this. I don’t think he’s saying Homosexual couples cannot be married, but Christian marriage is different. I couldn’t sit down in a synagogue and eat pork, because it would be an affront to the Jewish religion. Even though I think it is wrong and contray to Jesus’ teachings that many Christian’s are against homosexuality, they are and so a homosexual marriage in a Christian church would be a no. Still, America might be a Christian country, but it still has a duty of equality to it’s people.. ALL of it’s people! Even if gay marriages are not premitted in Christian churches, marriage does not belong to the Christian religion anymore. It is a human right.
