Lindsay Lohan isn’t showing her age. She’s showing a more advanced age — in many photos she looks more like a 40-year-old than the 23-year-old that she is.

The formerly fresh-faced teen star has had a hard life, which she makes harder with partying and substance abuse. You can see it in her face.

“In addition to genetic makeup, lifestyle is a huge component of one’s appearance,” says Dr. Christopher Zachary, chairman of the UCI Department of Dermatology. He adds:

Years of smoking, booze and heavens knows what else will surely declare themselves as premature aging in the form of dull skin tone, leathery wrinkled skin, blotchy pigmentation, baggy eyes and marginal teeth.

In short, these people don’t wear their lives on their sleeves, they wear it on their faces.

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia of San Clemente agrees:

Ms. Lohan is frequently seen basking in the sun and smokes cigarettes. She has thin white skin with freckles. Her skin has the appearance of advanced aging at an early age due to her heredity as well as her exposure to the sun and smoking.

I’d bet she doesn’t use sun screen. Her nutrition is probably not the best either.

She is basically killing her skin on all fronts.

In addition, Lohan apparently has visited her doctor to get a new round of injections to plump up her lips, as Di Saia noted on his blog.

He called the treatment a “lip fill,” which was more polite than the description used by the Web site Beauty Junkie, which said,   “LiLo joined the blowfish-as-beauty-icon brigade, got herself a big old pair of puffed-up smackers.”

The combination of sunglasses and protruding lips makes her look like an aging Faye Dunaway.

Lohan has also launched a spray-on tan product called “Sevin Nyne Tanning Mist” in conjunction with Sephora.  The company says Lohan hopes the spray will “encourage men and women to stay out of the sun and ‘cherish their skin.’ In fact, a portion of the proceeds benefits skin cancer awareness charities.”

The spray contains no sunscreen.
