See ‘Kellie’s breasts, Nicole’s Botox’ slide show

COSMETIC-MEDICINE FANS

Plastic surgery enthusiasts and other celebrities who have earned the attention of cosmetic-medicine blogs flocked to Las Vegas for Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards.

Among them were these three celebrities who have been featured in the In Your Face blog:

• Singer Kellie Pickler, subject of the post “Kellie Pickler breast implants in spotlight.” That post stated, “Singer Kellie Pickler, 22, keeps getting good mileage from her breast implants, which she teasingly refused to acknowledge early last year.”
• Actress Nicole Kidman, featured in “Does anyone believe Nicole Kidman’s Botox denials?” In an unscientific reader survey, “no” was  the answer from 75 percent of participants.
• Singer Miley Cyrus, who isn’t a cosmetic medicine patient, appeared in the posts “Miley Cyrus stirs worry about sexuality, self-image” and “Miley Cyrus ‘nude scene’ rumor fits with profit-driven sexuality push.”

People are worried about Miley Cyrus in various ways:

Is she being pushed to grow up too fast? Does her youthful sexuality encourage older women to pursue an unrealistic ideal because, as this blog stated,  “corporations know that it encourages women to spend money on Botox and other wrinkle-fighting products in pursuit of an unattainably youthful appearance”?

In another survey about Miley Cyrus, 63 percent of readers said she presents the image of “a teenage girl playing the role of a sexually attractive woman.”

Also showing up for the award ceremony on Sunday were several celebrities who have attracted the attention of other cosmetic-medicine sites. Among them:

• Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was the subject of speculation by the Make Me Heal site that she may have had breast implants.
• Comedian Carrot Top, about whom plastic surgeon Dr. Tony Youn said in his Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery blog, “He’s undergone quite a few changes over the years, not the least of which is an excessively arched brow possibly due to a combination of Botox and a Browlift. His face looks extremely smooth as well, and may be the result of laser treatments or chemical peels.”
• Singer LeAnn Rimes, who disclosed details of her leg surgery in 2006 to defuse rumors that she had undergone breast-implant surgery.
• Former athlete Bruce Jenner, who is the subject of many, many blogs’ harsh commentary. For example, this from Awful Plastic Surgery: “tight un-natural look of Bruce Jenner’s face. Face lifts, eye lifts, brow lifts, too much Botox. Scary. Stop now Bruce. Just awful.”
